The Blue Hour is the short period of time after sunset where the surroundings are colouring blue and it is hard to say whether it is radiating or enlightend from outside. This ambiguous situation was the starting point for Peter Verhaar for a series of paintings wherein there is a main role for depth and surface, sharpness and being out of focus and the shifting of the blue. The work was completed in 2015 and it is the first time that it can be seen and a great pleasure that it will take place in the Angle Gallery.
Het Uur Blauw wordt de korte tijd genoemd vlak na zonsondergang waarbij de omgeving blauw lijkt te kleuren en het in het midden blijft of deze nu wordt aangelicht of zelf licht uitstraalt. Dit kantelpunt is aanleiding geweest voor Peter Verhaar voor een serie schilderijen met een hoofdrol voor diepte en oppervlak, scherpte en out of focus en de veranderingen in blauw. De serie is voltooid in 2015 en voor het eerst dat dit werk nu te zien is . Het is een groot genoegen dat dit plaatsvindt in Angle Gallery.
Werk van Peter Verhaar (1956) is in collecties van het Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Stedelijk Museum de Lakenhal Leiden, Rijksmuseum Twente, Instituut Collectie Nederland en privé-collecties in Nederland, Duitsland en de Verenigde Staten.
